South
Neighborhood Information
One of the most forested neighborhoods in Bellingham is the South Neighborhood. The South Neighborhood is home to large lots, some even large enough for horses and other animals with homes varying from older farm style homes to the new housing in the areas expanding developments.
A cruise around the neighborhood might be a little challenging if you don’t know your way around, as many of the street or dead end or gravel roads. The main through streets which you will find are Old Samish Hwy, 24th St and Chuckanut Drive.
The South Neighborhood is home to Fairhaven Park and the Interurban Trail, Hoag’s Pond, and Arroyo Park. With Bellingham’s active outdoor life, all are well used and home to many bikers, walkers and joggers alike.
Children in the South Neighborhood attend either Larrabee or Lowell Elementary School and Fairhaven and Sehome High Schools.
