Beach Neighborhood Information
The Silver Beach Neighborhood wraps around the Northern end of Lake Whatcom and provides some great views and recreational opportunities for its residence. The North part of the neighborhood is home to many large upscale homes located on the shores of Lake Whatcom. The South part of the neighborhood contains smaller homes on nice wooded city lots.
Bloedel-Donovan Park is located in the Silver Beach Neighborhood with a public swimming area, boat launch and park. During the summer months this area is a bustle of activity. Also located here is the Big Rock Garden Park.
Residents can chose between Barkley Village and Lakeway Drive for their shopping needs. Barkley Village is west of the northern tip of the lake while Lakeway Drive is south west of the Silver Beach neighborhood.
Silver Beach Elementary School is within walking distance for most residence in the neighborhoods. Students south of Alabama St are assigned to Geneva Elementary while those North attend Silver Beach. Middle School students north of Alabama attend Whatcom Middle School. Students South of Alabama attend Kulshan Middle School. High School students attend either Sqaulicum or Bellingham High School.
