Streets
Neighborhood Information
The Lettered Streets neighborhood is full of character and history. Most of the homes were built in the early 1900s by the middle class, working families of Bellingham. Distinctly bordered by Holly Street, Broadway, North Street, Cornwall and Whatcom Creek, the Lettered Streets neighborhood is easy to find on the map due to its roads that run diagonally in relation to the rest of the city.
The 110 blocks of this neighborhood are filled with well-kept character homes, most of which have some historical significance. New homes in the area have been built in a similar style in order to preserve the character of the area. There are some multi-family residences, but the majority are single-family homes. The neighborhood also features some office buildings and limited commercial areas. Maritime Heritage Center is a beautiful park on Whatcom Creek at the south end of the neighborhood.
Children in the Lettered Streets neighborhood attend Parkview Elementary School. The middle school for the area is Whatcom Middle School which is right in the neighborhood, and older students attend close-by Bellingham High school.
