If you like Django Reinhart and Hot Jazz of the 20’s and 30’s, a fine NW group called Gadjo Gypsies performs tonight (Friday, Dec 16) at 7:30 PM at The Firehouse in Fairhaven. Tickets are $15, at the door or at Quist Violins. Bryan Thurber, violin; Josh Rush, guitar; Jeff Gray, bass. Josh is a fine guitarist in this genre.
Flamenco Dancer Savannah Fuentes is Back
If you like Flamenco, dancer Savannah Fuentes is back with guitarist Pedro Cortes, a fine NY-based player who comes from a family of flamenco guitarists, and now for his first B’ham appearance, Jesus Montoya, a singer with deep Gypsy roots who knows all the cantes, and is equally at home backing dancers or out in front as soloist. He sings exquisite fandangos in the tradition of Rafael Farina. They perform Saturday night, Dec 17th, at the Blue Horse Gallery, STARTING AT 6 PM. $20 general, $12 kids / students / low income.
