Halloween Home Saftey Tips

October 24th, 2011 by Fawn | Posted in Bellingham, Random, Whatcom County, Whatcom County Events | No Comments »

Bellingham HalloweenHalloween is creeping up on us fast and so are some potential dangers to your home as a result of the fun holiday.  Below are some tips to help keep your home and family safe this Halloween:

- Be careful when placing candles in your carved jack-o-lanterns and keep them far away from any furnishings, drapes or Halloween decor that may be flammable and never leave them burning unattended.

- Do not overload electrical outlets with holiday lighting or movable decorative objects.

- Be sure and take time to check around our porch or sidewalk for any garden hoses, low lying tree limbs or decorations that might prove to be a tripping hazard for young children trick or treating at your home.

Hope you have a safe and happy Halloween!

Craft & Antique Show in Lynden This Weekend

October 11th, 2011 by Fawn | Posted in Lynden, Whatcom County Events | No Comments »

It’s coming! The start to my holiday crafting madness, the Lynden Craft and Antique Show. The smells of the hot cider being served, the piano being played and the sight of all the wonderful vendors, antiques and crafts, I love it!

This year’s show dates are this Thursday, Friday and Saturday the 13th-15th.  The Lynden Craft and Antique Show is held at the Lynden Fairgrounds, parking is free and admission into the show is $5, $4 for seniors and children under 12 years old are free.

The show features tons of vendors, with Christmas and holiday crafts, food, art and more. I always like to attend to get ideas for craft to make on my own at home or to pick up some early Christmas gifts for family and friends.

If you would like more information on the show you can visit their website at

Stoney Ridge Farms- A Wonderful Fall Destination.

September 28th, 2011 by Fawn | Posted in Bellingham, Everson & Nooksack, Whatcom County, Whatcom County Events | 1 Comment »

CIMG0032If you or your family have never visited Stoney Ridge Farms in Everson, I highly recommend it. A family farm started over 22 years ago, it has evolved into a Fall and Christmas destination for many. Open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday in October Stoney Ridge Farms has Fall Activities for everyone. They boast the largest pumpkin patch in all of Whatcom County, hay rides, farm animal viewing, corn maze, cafe with fresh apple cider and so much more.

My family has made Stoney Ridge a yearly tradition and we often spend the whole day at the farm. We love to walk in the barn and check out the piglets, goats, horses and donkeys. There is an abundance of animals to see and some that you can even feed. The pies from the cafe are wonderful and I highly recommend the carmel apple pie. We also purchase all our fall decorations from the farm each year including a large variety of small gourds and large pumpkins, they have it all.Stoney Ridge House

Every year we visit the farm we leave with wonderful memories, stomach’s full of fresh baked pie and a whole bunch of pumpkins and gourds to decorate our home.

During the month of December the farm once again opens to the public and is the go to spot to pick out your fresh cut Christmas tree from there large farm.  The barn is also home to a live animal nativity, holiday crafts and baked goods.

If you are interested in heading out to Stoney Ridge Farms they are located at 2902 Van Dyk Rd in Everson. From Bellingham head North of the Guide Meridian, East on the Pole Rd, and then turn left onto the Van Dyk Rd. Stoney Ridge  Farms will be on your right hand side with parking on your left. Opening day is this Saturday, Oct. 1st. I will do another post about the farm with more photos after my annual visit this year.
