I awoke this morning to pure darkness and a slight chill in the air….. fall is on the way, and that means school starting for many students.
Students of Lynden Christian High School were the first to head back to school with classes starting this morning for students. Next Wednesday September 2nd is the start of the school year for many other such as the Blaine, Ferndale, Lynden, Mt. Baker and Nooksack Valley School Districts. Whatcom Day Academy and Assumption Catholic School in Bellingham also kick off the start of their year on September 2nd as well.
The Bellingham and Meridian School Districts get a later start this year with the first day for students being Tuesday, September 8th. Local college get an even later start with Whatcom Community College’s Fall Quarter kicking off on September 21st and Western Washington University starting on Sept. 23rd.
With all the schools back in session be sure and pay extra attention to the school zones while out for a commute, the police will be in full force monitoring the school zones for speeders and keeping the cross walks and sidewalks safe for county children.
