Sandy Point Canal entrance

June 24th, 2009 by Mike | Posted in Fishing No Comments »

For those of you that use the canal entrance at Sandy Point, just west of Ferndale- be careful. We went down yesterday and had a look at the minus 3.8 tide– there was about 12 inches of water across the middle. The depth hasn’t really changed much over the past 10 years- but the way to navigate through has. getting-tightIn the past we would hug the north edge and now it appears- center all the way in is the better option.  Going out run the center line, go about 50 ft out of the breakwater and then turn left and go just inside the green marker. So it looks to me like at a “zero tide” we all should be good- with over 3 feet of water.

For the opening of Salmon July 1st in marine area 7– the low is 0.2 at 8:18 for Sandy Point– should be easy access.
