Yesterday, Bellingham was awarded with the Green Power Partner of the Year Award from the Environmental Protection Agency. The award is one of only two awarded nationally, and is meant to recoginze individuals, programs, and organizations that further advance the developement of green power sources in their community.

Puget Sound Energy’s donation of a 12 panel solar instalation at Maritime Heritage Park’s Environmental Learning Center was one of the projects that led to Bellingham’s selection for the award. Bellingham has had a very high sign up rate for green power over the past several years which in turn has led to lowered rates for green power consumers by as much as 40%.
