Remember last year all the big controversy in Ferndale about Pioneer Plaza – the huge new mall that was being proposed? The city put a temporary moratorium, then it lifted, and they got their application in.

But we haven’t really heard much lately about Pioneer Plaza. I did a bit of looking around and found out that plans for Pioneer Plaza are still moving forward, although quite slowly. An environmental consultant was hired to prepare an environmental impact statement for the project. The report is supposed to be done in the spring, at which time public hearings in Ferndale will begin.
