Bellingham to grow by 900 acres
Bellingham City Council is considering annexing 900 acres north of Bellingham around Yew St. into the city. The annexation and subsequent rezoning is a part of the city’s plan to deal with planned growth over the next twenty years.
Some residents in the area are happy that they will get the opportunity to develop the land while others are lamenting the loss of their quiet neighborhood and beautiful setting.
Although the annexing is likely, the proposal will still need to officially pass the city council, have signatures of 75 percent of those who own the land (percentage is based on value), pass the Boundary Review Board and the final public hearing from city council.
