Bellingham chosen as top paddling town

Blogged under Bellingham, Random by Lindsay on Tuesday 11 July 2006 at 3:37 pm

Outside Magazine chose Bellingham as the best town for paddling in America. Bellingham was chosen for it’s easy access to lakes, rivers, sheltered marine waters, the San Juan Islands and numerous kayaker-friendly businesses. Other categories that the magazine ranked towns in were best rock climbing, all-around, wellness, road biking, trail running, whitewater, mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding and surfing.

That’s no big surprise. However, I wish they’d call it rowing because paddling sounds like a strange fetish. Maybe they could call it oaring. Nope, that wouldn’t work either…
