Square Footage vs. Layout

June 8th, 2006 by Fawn | Posted in Random 1 Comment »

Interesting post on the Rain City Guide by Ardell about how you can’t directly compare two houses that are the same size without considering layout. Good ideas to consider when you are buying an investment property, or a home you plan to sell again within a few years. If you are buying your dream house that you plan on living in for 25 years, probably don’t need to worry about this as much as re-selling won’t be a factor for a long time.

  1. Even if the buyer tells me they plan to live there for 25 years, I still tell them the weaknesses of floor plan for resale. No one has a crystal ball, and often people move who think they wouldn’t.

As Donald Trump has said, you always spend money wisely in the moment, and never rely too much on future predictions. Well maybe The Donald didn’t say it quite that way, but I’m sure he would agree with me :-)
