The Birchwood Neighborhood is a very diverse neighborhood, historically it is
one of the older neighborhood in Bellingham often characterized
by large deep lots and small mini farms, the neighborhood has
now filled in with newer housing and some commercial retial areas.
The retail hub of the neighborhood lies at the intersection of Birchwood and
Northwest Ave where you will find an Albertson's Grocery Store,
a Big Lots Retail store and several banks. There is also several
areas of multi family housing along W. Maplewood Ave. Birchwood
