Roosevelt
Neighborhood Information
Roosevelt is a compact neighborhood with Alabama Street running through the middle of it. There is a mix of older and newer single family homes in Roosevelt with some multi-family residences throughout. Most of the growth in this neighborhood is from condominium and apartment buildings. The lots tend to be smaller, but in general the area is well maintained.
While Roosevelt is mainly residential, there is some commercial to the north along Sunset. Other amenities are very close as well with Barkley Village to the east, Sunset Square directly north and easy access onto the freeway. Along the south of the neighborhood is Ohio Street which is the car dealership road in Bellingham.
Roosevelt Park is a great place to bring the kids to play on the playground or to run in the fields and throw a Frisbee. Renovated a few years ago, the park now has basketball courts and bathrooms as well. Other parks such as Pacific Trails Park and Whatcom Falls park are in the Roosevelt neighborhood or border it.
There are three elementary schools for the kids of this neighborhood: Sunnyland, Roosevelt and Northern Heights. Shuksan, Kulshan and Whatcom Middle Schools serve the older kids with teen attending Squalicum or Bellingham High School.
