Puget
Neighborhood
Information
Puget is a great neighborhood centered on Lakeway Drive and features distinct residential, commercial and industrial areas. Gas stations, groceries, restaurants and other services and shops are all located long Lakeway Drive keeping them separate from the residential areas. A band of light industry and offices is located at the north end of the neighborhood close to the creek.
Puget is definitely a neighborhood with something for everyone. Homes range from the well-maintained mobile home park off Lakeway Drive to large homes on the hill over looking the bay. There is a mix of older and newer homes, most of which are single family, although there are a few multi-family units used primarily by Western Washington University students. Lots are medium sized and most are on quiet streets that link up to Lakeway.
As the sports center of Bellingham, Civic Field Complex is 84 acres and features a football stadium, baseball field, softball fields, an aquatic center, skating rink, a playground and trails. Because recreational facilities abound at Civic Field, most of the other parks in Puget are all about nature with trails, benches and playgrounds for the kids.
Carl Cozier is the Elementary school for this area and is conveniently located right next to the Civic Field Complex. Middle school students attend Kulshan Middle School which is further east on Lakeway. High school students attend Sehome High School down by the university.
